O’Donnellan & Joyce, a leading property expert for selling properties by auction locally and nationally, reported an excellent day results after its September 20 property auction.

With properties from Galway to Dublin and throughout Ireland going under the auction hammer on the day, the auction attracted interest not only locally but also from national and international bidders.

The property auction was live streamed from the offices of O’Donnellan & Joyce at 5 Mary Street, Galway, which was transformed into a large studio by Brandt International.

Conducted live by Ireland’s leading auctioneer, Colm O’Donnellan, the live streaming means that buyers can bid over the phone or online while watching the live auction from the comfort of their own home.

Lot 1 – No 11 Carragh Hill, Knocknacarra Road, Galway

The first lot under to go under the hammer on Friday was No 11 Carragh Hill, a large detached four bedroom home with integrated garage and a large rear garden. This property has lots of potential and generated a huge amount of interest. After intense bidding, No 11 was sold for €585,000.

Lot 2 – No 35 Seagrove, Ballyloughane Road, Renmore, Galway

Lot 2 was a four bed semidetached home in Renmore. In need of modernisation and refurbishment, No 35 is a blank canvas and will make a fabulous family home. A rare find in this popular location, No 35 had four bidders chasing it until the hammer dropped at €420,000.

Lot 3 – No 10 Mary Street, Galway

This lot offered a city centre property just on the corner of Mary Street and Upper Abbeygate Street. No 10 is divided into two separate apartments, both very nicely decorated and fitted out with the ground floor unit having access to a very private rear patio yard. It attracted great interest and was sold for €321,000.

Lot 4 – Tonroe, Tulsk, Castlerea, Co Roscommon

Lot 4 was a large three bedroom detached farmhouse style residence in a rural setting, offering spacious living accommodation to include a sunroom extension to the side. The property requires modernising and upgrading throughout but contained potential to provide an excellent family home with ample space to extend. Tonroe was sold for €129,000.

Lot 5– Hillview, Castledermot, Co Kildare

Hillview was a detached three bed residence situated in the centre of Castledermot village. The property stands on a corner site and needed total refurbishment. This spacious property has the potential to provide an excellent home. This lot attracted many registered bidders who all went head to head to take this excellent opportunity off the market. It was sold for €145,000, far exceeding its reserve of €80,000.

Lot 6 – Meneen, Aghagower, Westport, Co Mayo

Meneen in Aghagower is a spacious four bed detached residence standing on a site of circa 0.6 acre. The property is in good condition with some completion works required internally and externally. This lot was sold for €253,000.

This was the sixth auction of 2024 for O’Donnellan & Joyce, and auctioneer Colm O’Donnellan said that the team “were delighted with the brilliant results” and the number of properties that they obtained throughout Ireland to sell by auction.
