Music for Galway’s 43rd season, Irish Connections, kicks off next Friday, September 27, at 7.30pm in Leisureland featuring the RTÉ Concert Orchestra with special compère Marty Morrissey.

Celebrating through music the joys that the nation experiences through sports, most recently through the Olympic and Paralympic Games, Marty Morrissey presents his sporting life – the games, the music and the craic – performed by the RTÉ Concert Orchestra and conductor Gavin Maloney.

With musical guests such as Tara Howley, Don Stiffe and The Galway Tenors, accompanying footage from sporting wins and iconic moments over the years, Marty will take us on a journey through the very best of Irish sporting life, with musical themes and images from the archives. He will be chatting to special sporting guests Macdara Ó Fátharta, Joe Connolly and Rob Heffernan, and sharing some of his own memories.

Music will include ‘Put Em Under Pressure’, ‘Chariots of Fire’, themes from The Sunday Game and Match of the Day, ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’, ‘From Clare to Here’ for the hurlers and plenty more bound to get the blood pumping and sporting spirit ignited.

Marty is clearly one of RTÉ’s most talented broadcasters with a wide range of broadcasting skills that has endeared him to the people of Ireland. Expect some great stories, fabulous music and some craic.

Tickets from €17.50 to €35. Family tickets €95.
