Kicking off the weekend tomorrow is Cork-based tribute band A Foo Good Men. They will bring the legendary sounds of the Foo Fighters to Galway’s west end. This five-piece will unleash back-to-back hits like ‘The Pretender,’ ‘Best of You,’ ‘Everlong,’ ‘Learn to Fly,’ ‘All My Life,’ and ‘Times Like These.’
Known for their gritty live shows, powerful riffs, and thunderous vocals, A Foo Good Men delve deep into the Foo Fighters’ extensive catalogue. Band members Alex Hornibrook, Liam Redding, Seán Murphy, Shane Cahill, and James Coady say this will be their last gig for 2024.
On Saturday, September 14, spice up your weekend as the beats of DJ Corey transport you to the golden eras of pop. The ultimate throwback party, Blah Blah Blah mixes nostalgia with contemporary hits, aimed to ignite the dancefloor.
The excitement continues on Tuesday, September 17, with a special spoken word show featuring celebrated journalist, author, and punk rock musician John Robb. In this intimate, fully seated event, Robb will delve into his life in music, his role as the first person to interview Nirvana, and his latest book, The Heart of Darkness: The History of Goth.
He recently interviewed Noel Gallagher about Oasis' album, Definitely Maybe, which is currently available on the Oasis YouTube channel. The 30-minute documentary has received considerable traction in the wake of the reformation of the band.
Robb’s book explores the enduring Goth culture, tracing its historical, social, and political roots. Featuring interviews with cultural icons like The Cult, Adam Ant, The Cure, and Nick Cave, this book offers a comprehensive look at one of the most enduring pop cultures of all time.
The week’s festivities continue with the return of Belfast DJ and producer Mark Blair to Monroe’s Live on Thursday, September 19. Following a sold-out show last year, Blair is back for another electrifying set.
Known for his vibrant mix of house, techno, and a hint of rave, Blair’s hands-on approach and distinctive style have catapulted him into the limelight. Fresh from releasing his latest track, ‘Late Night Warriors,’ Blair’s return to Monroe’s Live is highly anticipated.
Rounding out the week on Friday, September 20, The Roadhouse Doors will take to the stage at Monroe’s, bringing the iconic sound of The Doors to life. From ‘Light My Fire’ to ‘Riders on the Storm,’ this talented four-piece tribute band will deliver a powerful performance of The Doors' greatest hits.
