A Galwegian choir wants take group singing to another level in the New Year as it seeks 100 voices to join its members on stage for an enormous performance at the Town Hall Theatre.

This evening, Thursday, September 5, RISE Choir is offering ordinary people an extraordinary opportunity to perform at one of Galway’s most prestigious venues this January by participating in The Rise Experience.

Over a period of twelve weeks, leading voice coach Dr Caren Hession will teach interested singers and music lovers of all abilities the musical arrangements and vocal harmonies for three big, contemporary songs. This includes eight weeks before the Christmas period, and four after.

Last year, 120 singers performed with a full house band as part of the sell-out Born To Rise Showcase.

“It was such an amazing experience last year,” said a participant. “The energy that comes from Caren and the group is truly incredible. There’s a real sense of community and belonging and supporting each other through this really, unique experience. I cannot wait to be part of it again this year”.

This experience is all part of the Born To Rise self-development programme, a two-day event aimed at helping individuals find their voice, physically and metaphorically.

“This event is really about vocal empowerment; rediscovering who you are, finding the strength and the courage to be heard, and being part of something that can make a difference to the lives of others," says Dr Hession. "The choir is a great way to experience this, to have fun, meet new people and just sing your heart out."
