Best Dressed at the RDS Dublin Horse Show takes place on Thursday August 15 where, back by popular demand after an absence of a few years is the Most Creative Hat category sponsored this year by Pichet, a Bib Gourmand restaurant which celebrates fifteen years in business this summer. Over the last decade women (and men ) have entered this category wearing ingenious creations, from a hat with a fully working RDS clock tower to one covered in hundreds of paper butterflies.
The RDS Dublin Horse Show launched earlier this month where model Hannah Leslie wore a number of millinery delights from Kerry milliner Carol Kennelly and Dublin based Aoife Harrison Design with Irish army equitation horse Slieve Gullion showing his interest in the Pichet plate!
Online registration is now open for Best Dressed (www.dublinhorseshow.com ) with the overall winner walking away with a whopping €10,000 in cash courtesy of title sponsor 1664 Blanc.
Entrants on the day can avail of touch-ups from Irish beauty brand KASH Beauty and founder Keilidh Cashell shared her top three tips for keeping your makeup on point whilst wearing a hat:
Skin prep is key
Regardless of the hat, if you want your makeup to apply smoothly and last longer you need to put in the prep. Using a primer specifically for your skin type will make all the difference. Mattify:
Setting your face is essential, mainly in the t-zone area where you get oily but also around your forehead too where the band will be sitting. I would advise wearing less makeup, bronzer, foundation etc. around the forehead area and using a light setting powder instead, so that if you have to take the hat off at any point there isn’t a harsh line left on your face where the makeup has been taken off.
Set and spray:
A good setting spray is your best friend when wearing a hat! Your setting spray will melt your makeup into the skin and lock it in place. It will stop your makeup from melting under the heat from wearing a hat and ensure that all your hard work isn’t disrupted during the Best Dressed Day ensuring you look your best when you step up onto the stage to talk to Laura Woods and present your outfit to judges, fashion doyenne Bairbre Power and 1664 Blanc ambassador and stylist Clémentine MacNeice.
