Mazda Ireland is celebrating 35 years since the introduction of the MX-5, the iconic two-seater which has become synonymous with driving pleasure.

Since its debut at the Chicago Motor Show in February 1989, the Mazda MX-5 has evolved while staying true to its core philosophy. From its conception by Bob Hall, each generation has brought new advancements while maintaining its lightweight and agile spirit.

With over 1.25 million units sold, the MX-5 holds the Guinness World Record for the best-selling two-seater sports car.

New for 2024, the latest MX-5 is now available to order from authorised Mazda dealerships nationwide.

According to the Japanese car maker, subtle updates have been made to the design which include advanced LED headlights, revised rear lights, and a new 'Aero Grey Metallic' paint option (pictured ), alongside six other colours.

The latest model boasts a comprehensive array of safety systems, including the Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS ), Emergency Brake Assist, and a new secondary collision reduction system.

The updated Mazda Connect infotainment system now features an 8.8-inch colour touchscreen, wireless smartphone integration, and improved rear-view camera quality.

Mazda says it has also introduced a DSC-Track mode for optimised track driving and a new asymmetric limited slip differential paired with the Skyactiv-G 2.0 184 PS engine.
