Galway slimmer feels on top of the world after losing over 4.5 stone

When Juliana Byrne climbed Diamond Hill in May, she achieved a lifelong goal and felt on top of the world. She had made two previous attempts but failed both times.

Juliana’s journey began in January 2023 after she retired. “My weight impacted on so many aspects of my life, not least was the fact that it was putting a huge strain on my health," she recalled. "I was on a lot of medication for high blood pressure and high cholesterol which were all diet related and I used to get breathless all the time. I decided it was time to put myself first and I knew it was time to make some changes.”

Juliana joined Slimming World in the Menlo Park Hotel and she has since gone on to lose 4 stone 9lb. “I love Slimming World’s Food Optimising plan as I can eat to satisfy my appetite, and nothing is off limits," she said. "It’s a lifestyle change and about making healthier choices rather than following a diet. As a family, we all eat the same foods and the Thai coconut chicken is a big hit with everyone.”

Juliana now feels much fitter and with the weight loss, she has also reduced her blood pressure and cholesterol. Maura, who runs the Menlo Park Slimming World group, said: “The changes we’ve seen in Juliana are incredible. I hope her success will inspire others. There’s a warm welcome waiting at Slimming World.”
