Formed in 1982, the Wexford group combine vocals, guitars, uilleann pipes, and whistle to create a powerful sound that catapulted them to two double platinum selling albums and many prestigious national awards.

Fans of the group can look forward to songs from the lauded Crimes of Conscience and Witness for the World alongside highly anticipated new material and their extensive back catalogue.

From ‘Is This What You Waited For’ to ‘Precious Land’ and ‘Silly Dreams,’ which was recorded for the soundtrack for the Irish film ‘The Courier’, their set list will be intertwined with stories and anecdotes from their heyday.

“We are delighted to be playing at the iconic Monroes Live on Saturday, June 29th as part of our 2024 Tour, and we’re looking forward to a great night with our fans from Galway and beyond.”

As one of Ireland’s most critically and commercially celebrated bands, they performed on primetime talk show Wogan, toured extensively at home and abroad, and had numerous Irish Top 30 hits.

Having parted company in the early Nineties, they reformed in 2010 and are back in studio ahead of the release of their first new material in over 10 years.

Currently in the midst of an Irish tour, with numerous sold out shows, it is an exciting time for this reenergised rock quartet, who have an enduring legacy on the music scene.

Support on the night is from singer-songwriter Paul J. Bolger, who embraces rock with the sentimentality of artists such as Paul Brady and Jackie Leven. He is an all-round entertainer, who has pivoted from writing, drawing, directing and design in the late Eighties, to recording well-received albums, The Start of It, Hard Truth and Peacemaker.

This year, he releases work from his two other music projects, the hard rock band, Forge Hounds, and the rootsy project Blind Corner.

Tickets to Cry Before Dawn at Monroe’s Live on Saturday, June 29th at 8pm cost €25 and are available from www.monroes.ie
