Galway and Seattle are two cities on the same latitude, and this weekend an Irish band will pay an electrifying tribute to the grunge nostalgia of Seattle rockers Pearl Jam at Monroe’s Live.
Inspired by the Washington State icons, Light Years return to Galway for an energetic gig tomorrow, May 31, at 11pm.
As fans first and foremost, Light Years bring their own unique touch to timeless hits like ‘Alive,’ ‘Even Flow,’ and ‘Jeremy’.
“We have taken a great amount of time and effort to ensure that our show is nothing but a marker of love and respect to the source material," they say.
"The energy from a crowd is vital to the effect of the live show, and without our fellow Pearl Jam fans, we would just be five guys in a room playing songs that we love.”
This is an opportunity to enjoy the music of one of the most influential groups of the '90s.
Unlike many other grunge bands of the era, Pearl Jam's style is reminiscent of classic rock melodies of the 1970s, blended with a post-punk grit that defined their sound.
From their ground-breaking debut album Ten to their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Pearl Jam has left a lasting impression, selling millions of albums worldwide.
