Tom Keal from Newcastle pictured on Tuesday after he landed the first salmon of the season from the High Bank on the River Corrib.
The High Bank is a locals-only spot where you have to be a Galway resident to get a permit.
Tom told the Advertiser that the salmon was in a good condition, weighed more than 10 lbs and was caught on a flying C just before sunset.
