Galway Choral Association will present ‘Pax Mundi’, a concert dedicated to the theme of peace, on Saturday, May 11, 8pm at Galway cathedral.
Under the direction of Dr Darina McCarthy, the choir will present a selection of serene choral pieces from the 20th and 21st centuries in support of COPE Galway. Special guests are award-winning Claddagh native uilleann piper Michael Vignoles, and cathedral organist Ray O'Donnell.
Michael has composed a piece especially for the occasion, and on the organ Ray will mark the centenary of Romantic Irish composer CV Stanford’s death.
“This selection of choral works was chosen with an awareness of current conflicts around the world, and the unnecessary deaths of war. The texts give a message of hope for peace in our troubled world,” says McCarthy.
