Sligo singer-songwriter Stephen Gormley, known as Moon Looks On will launch his new album Way Out West at Monroe’s Live on Friday, May 10 at 7:30pm.
An album brimming with contemporary folk and roots music, he has a finger-picking melodic style that is driven by his lyrics.
Written in a converted barn in South Sligo, Moon Looks On is continually inspired by his natural surroundings and the appeal of the sea.
It has a mystical draw for him, and his return to his home county has informed his song writing, which is a true expression of his life’s journey.
He captures a moment in time, a snapshot of his experiences, and thanks to this, he is carving out a name for himself on the Irish and international music scene.
With influences ranging from old school jazz to the Rolling Stones, Tracy Chapman to Sharon Shannon, this eagerly awaited new album, Way Out West comes on the heels of the acclaimed Razor Wire Skies.
Following appearances at Glastonbury, Electric Picnic, All Together Now, 2000 Trees Festival, and The Ruby Sessions to name but a few, his characteristic blend of roots and folk music is gaining traction.
Moon Looks On has performed on RTÉ’s Other Voices and has garnered significant radio play and online streams.
