US political singer-songwriter Carsie Blanton will perform at the Róisín Dubh this evening, Thursday, April 18, at 8pm.
Inspired by artist-activists including Nina Simone and Woody Guthrie, her catalogue careers through American popular songbook from folk and swing to pop-punk protest anthems.
Blanton is known for her 2020 tribute to John Prine, ‘Fishin with You’ which brought her to the line-up for the sold-out Vicar Street Celebration of John Prine in early 2023. That show introduced Blanton to Declan O’Rourke and a string of other outstanding Irish musicians, and the rest is history.
