The Town Hall Theatre in Galway city will be one of seven venues across Ireland to host the third Lasta National Arts Festival, a festival of events programmed for young people by young people, taking place between June 1 and 12.

Galway's highlight events for Lasta 2024 include DJ Shampain who will bring the Irish silent cinema classic Irish Destiny back to life with a new soundtrack mixed live as the film is screened; pioneering Irish theatre company Brokentalkers with their critically acclaimed production Masterclass, and chart-topping podcasters I'm Grand Mam aka Corkonians, PJ Kirby and Kevin Twomey.

In an innovative approach to programming, 19 young curators have been engaged by seven regional venues (including Galway city’s Town Hall Theatre ) to programme a festival of work for young people nationwide. Under the guidance of theatre artist Maisie Lee, these young people will work collaboratively to deliver an ambitious line up of work.

The line-up for this year's festival will feature theatre, music, comedy, dance, film, photography and experiential moments promising a fresh approach.

The Lasta programme for the Town Hall Theatre has been curated by three young Galway-based curators selected through an open call: Lucy Birmingham, Tara Mackin and Noel Minogue.

Birmingham is an emerging theatre artist and technician based in Galway, originally from County Meath. She has recently graduated from Drama, Theatre and Performance in University of Galway.

Mackin is a theatre maker and producer hailing from Co. Louth. She has just graduated from a BA in Drama, Theatre & Performance Studies and Gaeilge at the University of Galway.
