FG local election candidate Shane Forde has hit out at the City Council and the current East Ward Councillors over lack of playgrounds in the area.

Mr Forde has said the lack of playgrounds in the area is unacceptable and asks why the area has been neglected so badly by the current council,

“In August 2021 current East Ward Councillors made promises that a playground would be built in Renmore by 2022 and that a second would follow by 2024 at the latest”.

“This was agreed with Council management and represents another false promise. The only people who suffer as a result are the children and parents in the Renmore area”.

“As a parent of a young child, I know that these amenities are vitally important for children’s development and their social skills. Playgrounds provide an opportunity for children and parents to get fresh air in a fun environment and escape TVs and other devices in the home”.

Mr Forde is demanding the Council to get on with the vital work of building these much needed amenities and give children a chance to have to some fun through play in the areas where they live and go to school.’
