Music for Galway has officially launched Cellissimo, a spectacular new festival of international classic and contemporary music, taking place across Galway city and county from May 18 to May 26.
A triennial event, Cellissimo will feature hundreds of stellar international, Irish and community artists, musicians, composers, performers, and speakers over nine days and nights across Galway city and county. The festival is presented by Music for Galway, with the support of many generous funders and partners.
A dynamic, inclusive, accessible celebration of superb music, with the majestic cello taking centre stage, Cellissimo will appeal to classical aficionados and first timers alike.
The festival promises to strike a chord with Irish and international music audiences, filling the venues, theatres, highways and byways of Galway city and county, with the sounds and stories of classic and contemporary music.
Music fans can feast on brand new commissioned works, intimate chamber concerts, sumptuous orchestral galas, pop up performances, community participation, theatre, dance, gaming, masterclasses, talks and so much more.
