The Third Irish Rhythm & Soul Weekend will take place in the Galway Bay Hotel from Thursday, March 8, to Sunday, March 10.
The event is an amalgamation of music tastes including Motown classics, flavours of Northern Soul, R&B, Rare Groove, Disco, Funk and Old Skool.
Three days of soul action will include four rooms of music and DJs from Ireland, Britain and across Europe.
Its launch in Westport, County Mayo in 2020 was a success for the organisers, despite the worry that interest would be minimal. The Rhythm and Soul Weekend then took an involuntary hiatus until 2022 due to Covid restrictions.
The success in Westport encouraged organisers to be more ambitious, so they staged the second weekend in the Galway Bay Hotel. Joining them on that occasion was American Soul Legend Eddie Holman, making his Irish debut. The event was another huge success, with Soul lovers from all over Ireland turning up for the gig.
One special guest this year will be Steve Guarnori, a real Soul music guru and indisputably one of the world's foremost experts on the genre. He will be playing throughout the weekend as well as signing copies of his 530 page tome on the All Platinum label and its subsidiaries.
Advanced weekend passes are €25, whilst Friday passes are €15. Saturday and Sunday passes cost €20.
