Galway Technical Institute has announced that its annual open day will take place this year on Tuesday, March 5, from 9am to 4pm, providing an opportunity for all prospective learners to view the facilities, speak with staff and students and have any queries addressed on the day.
GTI is a long established and highly regarded provider of further education and training programmes. We now live at a time when planning for the future poses greater challenges than ever. People today must be ready to face many career shifts over their working lives. Galway Technical Institute is dedicated to developing in its students the knowledge and skills needed to prepare for an ever-complex and ever-changing society. In this highly digitised society, transversal skills have never been more important, and the team at GTI are all about learning together. They aim to provide the launch pad for learners to enter the workplace, start an apprenticeship or progress to further and higher education.
Courses which provide a blend of work placements, practical and applied learning are capturing the attention of students and employers. More recently, a new era dawned with the establishment of the National Tertiary Office. This will now see learners commencing degrees in the further education and training campus or colleges of local education and training boards and then progressing with guaranteed access to continue degree studies in higher education, outside of the CAO. The programmes are co-designed and co-delivered by a further education college partnering with a higher education institute, taking higher education out of the points race.
With GRETB leading the way GTI is to the forefront in this exciting initiative and will be offering the first year of a digital business degree programme in conjunction with ATU. This means students complete their first year at GTI and then progress seamlessly to the second year of the degree programme. Applications open on February 1 at www.fetch.ie and www.nto.ie For more information see www.gretb.ie
