Renowned for their deep funk and groove, Dublin band Chief Keegan will bring its vibrant, funkadelic fusion to Monroe’s Live on Saturday, February 3, at 11pm.
The talented four-piece of Luke Dunford on keyboard, Mark Dudley on guitar, Alan Elliott on bass and Cian Hanley on drums are skilled instrumentalists who are gaining a strong following. With a recently sold-out launch for their album Going Commando, they are going from strength to strength.
During their career to date, the band has collaborated with Irish artists James Vincent McMorrow, Zaska, Loah, The RTE Concert Orchestra and Sharon Shannon. They’ve performed at Electric Picnic, the Cork and Bray jazz festivals and recently signed a publishing deal in the US with Singular Recordings for the 2024 release of their brand-new album.
Gritty, rhythmic and joyous, Chief Keegan delivers pulsating funk with a nod to disco. Adventures into soul find them amidst the genres of jazz, funk and hard rock, with a soft edge that is reminiscent of a bygone age.
Some of their musical influences include bands such as Vulfpeck, The Meters, Lettuce and Galactic, amongst others throughout the decades; they reinvent funk for a new era with a bluesy vibe.
