Can you describe your society to us?
We are a niche society dedicated to supporting F1 and the world of motorsports. We follow everything from the dominance of Max Verstappen, to the constant questioning of why Ferrari manage to bottle every potential win. We also delve into the world of smaller motorsports like Formula E, Indycare, WEC etc.
Why should students join this society?
Since F1 and motorsports have an extremely niche fanbase, our society gives people an environment to join fellow fans of watching people drive in funny circles a place to meet people with the same passion and drive for the sport. We also give newer fans who may have gotten in through the Netflix series "Drive to Survive" a place to learn about the history of F1. From the glory days of Prost vs Senna, to the not as glorious but still as thrilling days of Stroll vs Latifi. We also provide an environment for all types of fans, from those who can name all the world champions to those who know that Ferrari is red. All types of F1 fans are welcomed in our society.
Who does your society appeal to?
As previously stated we welcome all types of fans to our society, it does not matter who you support. Whether you support Lewis, Max, Charles, Lando, or even Lance Stroll, we welcome all fans. Even people who don't even know who Haas are, we will gladly welcome anyone with even the slightest interest in F1 to our society.
Why do you think societies are an important part of student life?
Societies are crucial to college life as they can be the first social events a student attends. For students far from home, having a society that caters to their interests and passions are essential in building a social life in college. For students who are not big into going out on the sesh, societies will provide the much needed social events that every college student needs to get away from the lectures and studying.
What sort of events do you organise for your members?
Our main type of events would be post-race events. This is where we normally book out a classroom the week after a race and watch the highlights, discussing everything that happened. Usually, we end up going way off course and end up talking about anything and everything while probably having a YouTube video with 200 views that will explain why Max Verstappen is secretly an alien. During the off-season, we also host many social events these can range from table quizzes to games nights, or potentially watching races from years ago and remembering the good days, like Hungary 2022 when Latifi went fastest in practice. We also organise to meet at SEVEN for race viewings since they host live viewings there.
