A month-long celebration of love will launch in Cava Bodega in February. The tapas restaurant is known for being a popular date night spot in Galway, providing a cosy, candle-lit atmosphere for first dates, friend dates and blind dates.

Throughout the month, guests can enjoy a special Tapas and Cava for Two, with five tapas and two glasses of rosé cava for €40 per person. Find out more about your date and their food habits as you ponder which dishes to choose from.

Comedian, writer and podcaster turned matchmaker, Mark Mehigan will set up eight individuals on blind dates, taking place on Valentine's Day in Cava Bodega. Singletons can apply through his Instagram page by sending a direct message with a short bio.

Mark is delighted to bring his match-making skills to Cava Bodega, saying, “When Cava Bodega approached me to work together on Valentine's Day, it seemed like the perfect match. I've had so many people over the last few months tell me that's where they went on a first date with their spouse. I knew there must be magic in the air so I am bringing eight people from all over Ireland together for the perfect blind date on Valentine's Day. If you know somebody single, brave and ready to dip their toe in the waters of a real-life date away from the monotony of dating apps, tell them to drop me a line”.

Mark Mehigan is a comedian, writer and podcaster based in Dublin. Formerly of the BBC, Mark returned to Dublin from London in 2020 to pursue comedy full time, after the success of his podcast, Mark Mehigan's Sunday Roast. Since the pandemic, he has brought the podcast to the stage where he sold out The Sugar Club three nights in a row on his debut. Last year he performed seven back to back Christmas specials which all sold out in less than 60 seconds. In 2023, Mark signed a publishing deal with Gill Books and his debut "This is not a self-help book", which will be released in March 2024.

In between roasting things on his Instagram, Mark has become quite the matchmaker. Regularly setting up couples across Ireland of all ages and types, his goal is to get people off the apps and to help his followers find love.

With the success of Mark’s match-making skills confined to Instagram so far, this occasion allows for the experience to include an interview before and after the date, with Mark getting an insight into how the date went.

Drigin Gaffey co-owner of Cava Bodega said they are looking forward to welcoming Mark and his cupid skills on Valentine's Night.

"We will also be open to non-blind dates and recommend early booking. We also have lots planned throughout the month to mark Cava as a venue where we have had many love stories begin. We will be running a competition each week to win dinner for two through our Instagram page, where we are asking followers to share their Romance in Cava Bodega stories. We want to hear the good dates, the bad dates and the dates that led to long-term love. It’s a lovely time to celebrate all things ‘love’.”
