Community projects throughout the city are being “hampered in their provision of services” because of Minister Éamon Ó Cuív’s delay in corresponding with the HSE, Labour councillor Billy Cameron has alleged.
Cllr Cameron is calling on Minister Ó Cuív to issue a letter of approval to the HSE in relation to funding of community projects throughout the city. “The RAPID Health Leverage Funding 2008/2009 is the lifeblood of several community groups in Galway City Central,” he said.
Bohermore Community Development Project is awaiting a grant of €10,000. Bohermore Community Hall is waiting for €4,000. The Shantalla Community Project is waiting for €15,000, and Westside Age Inclusion is waiting on €15,000.
“The delay is simply not good enough and is resulting in groups not being able to move forward until they receive the necessary go ahead from the HSE,” he said. “As chairperson of the board of Westside Age Inclusion and as Councillor for Galway City Central I am calling on the Minister to immediately deliver.”
