A Garda investigation into “chronic anti-social behaviour, vandalism, and destruction” at Annaghdown pier has been initiated following calls for such action by Fine Gael senator Fidelma Healy Eames.
According to Sen Healy Eames, ‘boy racers’, “deliberate destruction of cruisers”, an attack on a local person, suspected drug dealing, vandalism, littering, and intimidation against local families are among the “on-going problems” being experienced in the Annaghdown area.
As a result she contacted the gardaí to initiate a garda investigation. However she said “a problem of this scale will only be solved in an inter-agency way” and this week the senator met with the county manager to discuss the issues.
Sen Healy Eames has made contact with the HSE director of public health with a view to addressing the public health concerns at the pier regarding the bathing of horses.
