SAN FRANCISCO’S Chanticleer, “the world’s reigning male chorus,” according to the New Yorker, will make their debut Galway appearance in St Nicholas’ Collegiate Church on Saturday July 4 at 8pm.
Invited to Ireland by Galway’s Cois Cladaigh and Dublin’s Pipeworks, the show promises to be a treat for all those who appreciate choral music performed by internationally acclaimed singers.
Chanticleer’s flawless intonation, diverse repertoire, and brilliant interpretations are unparalleled in the world of vocal music.
“I can’t think of another ‘orchestra of voices’ that can shuttle with such proficiency from Renaissance polyphony to gospel, contemporary classical to jazz,” said the Chicago Tribune.

In 2009, to mark the 250th anniversary of the first American song, ‘My Days Have Been So Wondrous Free’ by Francis Hopkinson, Chanticleer will perform a programme demonstrating the diversity of American song. It promises to be a concert accessible to all. The choir will add the personal touch by engaging with the audience and giving the background to each of the songs they will perform.
