Matt Keane and his family of musicians return to the Claregalway Hotel next month for two nights of entertainment.

The Keane family from Caherlistrane, Matt, Sean, Orlaith and Laura will be joined by musicians, Maria Fahy, Colm Naughton, Pat Coyne, and Conor Connolly on Friday, January 5, and Saturday, January 6.

Orlaith and Colm’s young daughter Ellie May made her debut last year at the tender age of nine.

This year’s compere is the one and only Michael Commins; well known for his late-night radio shows on Mid West Radio and his country music column in the Farmers Journal.

From the Maam Valley, sisters Monica and Ann Brennan come from a rich musical family and they carry on that tradition with their unique singing voices and rich harmonies in both traditional and country styles.

Crowd favourite Mick Mulhern is back this year for the Friday night gig, while County Clare’s PJ Murrihy is a special guest on Saturday, January 6.

Lackagh Comhaltas is fast-becoming one of the biggest branches in the country with upwards of 500 musicians, playing and learning in the area. Sharon Connell Geraghty is the prime mover of this organisation, and it has won honours at County, Connacht and All-Ireland fleadhanna.

Doors 8pm. Tickets €30 from Quinn’s Shop, Tuam, The Homeplace Café, Headford, and the Claregalway Hotel.
