Described as a brilliant storytelling songsmith, Tuam’s Darragh O’Dea brings his six-piece band, Delicate Dogs, to Monroe’s Live on Friday, December 29, at 8pm.
Following his appearance at this year’s Galway Arts Festival Big Top with The Saw Doctors, O'Dea’s wistful lyrics and indie-folk yarns have reached a broader audience.
Fresh from completing an eight-day tour of Germany, the singer-songwriter will take to the stage at Monroe’s for this headline show on home turf.
His work explores cross currents of friendship, funerals, land and inheritance as he explores the very nature of Irish family life and dynamics.
With his debut album Tilly & The Postmaster, his colourful and engaging lyrical sensitivity has secured coveted airplay at home and abroad. His nuggets of joy and despair crowned him Galway Bay FM’s ‘A New Local Hero’ winner and he has a new album in the making.
Special guest on the night is Corofin’s Dave Clancy. Clancy is a multi-instrumentalist who has collaborated with the likes of The Cabin Collective, The Whileaways and Pauline Scanlon.
He released his own debut album The Path in 2020 to critical acclaim, and is in the midst of working on a new set of songs for 2024.
