O’Donnellan & Joyce, a leading expert both locally and nationally for selling properties by auction, reported a tremendous day for both buyers and sellers at its final auction of the year.
The company offered 15 properties throughout Ireland from Galway to Donegal and Dublin, including properties in Sligo, Kerry and Tipperary. All attracted not only local but also national and international interest.
The live stream auction was held in the office of O’Donnellan & Joyce, which was transformed into a large auction studio by Brandt International with the auction conducted live by one of Ireland’s leading auctioneers, Colm O’Donnellan, and streamed internationally where people could bid over the phone or online while also watching the auction live from the comfort of their own homes.
Lot 1 – Mullaghruttery, Claregalway, Galway
This attractive three bedroom detached bungalow, sitting on a lovely site, has a nice feel to it and is well-proportioned internally and externally. The location is a tranquil country setting yet only a three-minute drive to Loughgeorge, a seven-minute drive to Corrandulla and Claregalway. Lot 1 attracted four eager bidders. Following intense bidding the property was sold for €250,000.
Lot 2 – Biggera More, Belclare, Tuam, Galway
Biggera More is a two-storey dwelling in need of finishing throughout. Sitting on a large 1.03 acre site, space is abundant. The property has been used for storage and was never fully completed. Constructed with galvanised roof, block walls, concrete floor downstairs and timber floor upstairs, this lot interested three bidders. The lot was sold under the hammer for €102,000.
Lot 3 – 55 Block 4 Annaly Grove, Ongar Lodge, Ongar, Dublin
This lot was a two bedroom second-floor apartment situated within the popular apartment complex of Annaly Grove on the edge of Ongar village. This property would be an ideal starter home or an excellent investment in a convenient and sought-after location. This excellent opportunity was swiped off the market for €230,000.
Lot 4 – Rocklow Road, Fethard, Tipperary
Rocklow Road was a 0.4 acre site situated on the outskirts of Fethard town. The ruins of a detached residence remain on the site. The site possibly offers the potential to re-build a private residence (subject to planning ). Rocklow Road was sold before the auction for €30,000.
Lot 5 – No 45 Clarion Village, Block C, Sligo
No 45 Clarion Village is a two bedroom apartment located within the purpose built student complex of Clarion Village. Clarion Village is located within walking distance of Sligo IT, Sligo University Hospital and the Clayton Hotel. This was an excellent opportunity and one where the rental is fully managed, offering a hassle-free investment which attracted four bidders. After intense bidding, the property was sold under the hammer for €105,000, exceeding its reserve price by €20,000.
Lot 6 – No 4 Abbeyfield, Ballaghaderreen, Roscommon
This lot was a three bed mid-terrace residence located in Abbeyfield, a small development just off the Sligo road. The property offers off-street parking along with a rear garden. No 4 Abbeyfield generated huge interest which led to eight bidders registering and bidding on the property. After some intense bidding, it was sold for €88,000 exceeding its reserve price of €60,000.
Lot 7 – Leathanmor Court, Bangor Erris, Sligo
No 6 Leathanmor Court offered a three bed semidetached dormer bungalow along with a detached garage which would be suitable for use as a bedsit (subject to planning ). This is a spacious bungalow which would be an ideal starter home or investment in the centre of Bangor Erris village. This excellent opportunity attracted six bidders who all went head to head to take this property off the market. The property eventually sold for €115,000, exceeding its reserve price by €50,000.
Lot 8 – No 2 The Orchard, First Sea Road, Sligo
This was a four bedroom detached residence located within a small complex of only four homes just off First Sea Road. This is a popular location within a short drive of the shores of the Atlantic Ocean and the famous Strandhill Beach. The property stands on a corner site and has an adjoining garage along with off street parking to the front and an enclosed rear garden. The property does require upgrading throughout, however, this did not prevent bidders from expressing interest. No 2 The Orchard was sold under the hammer for €230,000.
Lot 9 – Falduff, Louisburgh, Mayo
Falduff, Louisburgh offered a partially completed detached residence standing on a site of circa 0.3 acre on folio MY8940F. This is a very scenic location near the stunning Old Head Beach, a long white sandy beach backed by rocky cliffs which leads to the harbour. Louisburgh town is within 4km, with Westport approximately 17km away. This excellent opportunity attracted four bidders. The lot was sold for €95,000.
This was the seventh and final live stream auction of 2023. Colm O’Donnellan said the company were delighted with the brilliant results and the number of properties they obtained throughout Ireland to sell by auction.
