Piper Tara Howley tours to Galway

Kilfenora’s award-winning multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, and composer Tara Howley and her band will perform at Monroe’s Live on Saturday, December 2, at 8pm, as part of the piper’s first ever headline tour.

This is a welcome chance to catch Riverdance’s lead uilleann piper and whistle player in her first headline Irish tour.

The show features an exciting blend of original songs and tunes alongside the County Clare native’s inimitable take on classic covers.

From winning numerous all-Ireland titles, Tara has since performed around the globe, showcasing her talents across Europe, Asia, America, and Canada.

In 2019, her musical prowess earned her a spot as a soloist with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra, contributing to the recording of the Riverdance 25th Anniversary album and DVD.

Her career extends beyond the toe-tapping show to include collaborations with the acclaimed Afro Celt Sound System and her album with Malaysia's Faliq Auri has resonated in over 66 countries.

Tara’s versatility has also led her to perform alongside fluatist James Galway and perform an exclusive concert for Steven Spielberg during his time in Ireland.

Tara has performed on the small and large screen, including with her Instagram-famous father Pádraic Howley, and featured in a film starring Pierce Brosnan and Brendan Gleeson.

Heavily inspired by Co Clare uileann piper Blackie O’Connell, Tara is classically trained and has been playing since she was 15. Leaving her Riverdance days behind, Tara now brings her own compositions to the stage as expressions of her authentic self.

Catch Tara Howley and band, with support from Jenny Räisänen, at Monroe’s Live on Saturday, December 2, at 8pm.
