Galway’s master of comedy, MC Karl Spain, will host special guests at a seasonal Christmas Comedy KARLnival at Róisín Dubh on Thursday, December 28, at 8pm.
Santa Spain is to be joined by Al Porter and Tony Kelly, with more guest to be announced.
Porter became the youngest headliner in Vicar Street’s history at only 21. His award-winning stand-up received rave reviews from critics, with headline TV and radio shows broadcast before his career fell apart in 2017.
As Porter wrote in an article last year, he: “had to listen and grow up and make changes” having been “hugely immature... inconsiderate... a mess, oblivious, obnoxious... an idiot.”. Al’s sincere stance since has received an overwhelmingly positive response.
Tony Kelly is a comedian originally from Waterford who has spent most of the past 15 years performing across New York City, Canada, Europe and Ireland.
This year he wrote, directed and starred in comedy movie The Hurler: A Campion’s Tale. His intonations are well known as the voice of television promos for Virgin Media One, and podcasts Me Head is Wrecked with Tony Kelly and the forthcoming Do You Remember? With Karl Spain & Tony Kelly.
