Toshín, the dynamic six-piece led by commanding vocalist Tosin Bankole has emerged as a tour de force in the contemporary music landscape.
With a blend of influences ranging from early Motown to the innovative sounds of modern soul and R&B, Toshín will bring energetic funk and groove to Monroe’s Live this Saturday, November 25, at 9pm.
It’s been an extraordinary year of achievements for Toshín; from a nationwide Aretha Franklin-tribute tour, to performances in London and Berlin. With a series of standout appearances at festivals such as Electric Picnic, All Together Now, and Big Grill, Toshín's momentum shows no signs of slowing.
Touring comes hot on the heels of the release of their first single ‘Defence’ from their forthcoming album Own Everything.
Exploring themes of love and self-acceptance, lead singer Tosin’s lyrics delve into her personal journeys of healing and discovery, delivered through a blend of soul-infused pop-funk. Her style moves effortlessly from the heartfelt soul of Aretha Franklin to the energetic funk reminiscent of James Brown, wrapped in modern rock and pop elements.
Toshín's profile has soared since the release of their debut EP Get Your Life in 2019. Notable career highlights include supporting Macy Gray on her Irish tour, sharing the stage with soul legends Staple Jr Singers, and fronting sold-out shows.
Catch Toshín, with support from Projective, at Monroe’s Live intimate backstage venue this Saturday, November 25, at 9pm.
