Posterer Boske plans rare back catalogue reveal

Elusive artist Joe Boske will showcase a collection of his most well-known posters and rarer pieces at an exhibition in Galway city next week.

One of Ireland's foremost and memorable visual artists, the German-born Boske plans to reveal a collection of his work at the PorterShed a Dó, Market street, on Tuesday, November 21, from 6pm. This will be a launch of Boske's e-commerce website compèred by author and cartoonist Tom Mathews.

Over the past forty years, Boske designed many of the iconic posters for the emerging arts scene in the West of Ireland. These include instantly recognisable images for the Galway, Clifden and Inishbofin arts festivals, the Cruinniu na mBad and Cuckoo fleadhs in Kinvara, and for cultural events further afield.

His humorous, quirky and surreal images have become cherished collectors' items over the years. Organisers say some of these remarkable works are now available again for the first time in several decades, alongside prints of Joe's more private, highly detailed and individualistic drawings, not often seen by the public.
