Fresh from releasing his latest album, renowned Dublin-born rapper and record producer Kojaque will bring his vibrant brand of hip-hop and jazz rap to Monroe’s Live on Saturday, 11 November.
Kevin Smith - aka Kojaque – has supported the likes of Lana Del Rey, and secured an Australian and New Zealand tour with Loyle Carner. Now he brings his own ‘Night At The Opera’ tour to Galway.
Following two nominations for the prestigious Choice Music prize, the now London-based Kojaque has solidified his presence on the music scene with his new work ‘Phantom of the Afters’.
With collaborations including Biig Piig, Wiki, Charlotte Dos Santos and Gotts Street Park, the album traces blurred outlines of childhood trauma, depression, grief and love.
Through his lyrics, this body of work finds the musician and visual artist reflecting on the landmarks of a young life, with a nod to growing up in Cabra, and his sense of otherness being Irish in Britain.
Awarded a prestigious Royal Hibernian Academy Award in 2017 for his creative practice, Kojaque came to prominence with the genre-bending Deli Daydreams in 2018.
Since then, he has performed at Glastonbury, Pitchfork Festival in Paris, Primavera Sound, and SXSW. He has sold out tours across Ireland, Britain, mainland Europe and North America.
With his Vicar Street gig already sold out, catch Kojaque’s ‘A Night at the Opera’ tour at Monroe’s Live on Saturday, 11 November, at 7:30pm.
