Fresh from headlining sold-out gigs at the Cork Jazz Festival, Rory Gallagher tribute band Deuce will bring his iconic blues-rock fusion to Galway for the first time on Friday, 3 November.
Formed in 2012 when three friends met to go busking at the Rory Gallagher Festival in Ballyshannon, Deuce will play a late-night set at Monroes Live at 11pm.
“The three of us, myself on vocals and guitar, Stephen on drums and Niall on bass have been Rory fans for many years,” says lead singer David.
“We've wanted to play in Galway for a long time and Monroes is the perfect place for us. We play a one hundred per cent Rory Gallagher set, and we always strive to give everything we can to every gig, because that's what Rory himself would have done.”
The genesis of the band was in 2012 when three mates decided to busk some acoustic Rory songs at the Ballyshannon festival in Donegal. Since then, they have played all over Ireland and Europe, gaining critical acclaim for their timbre and interpretation of Gallagher’s complex blues rock.
Deuce will storm through the songs with a stomping mix of Gallagher’s early and late repertoire, including favourites ‘Tattoo’d Lady’, ‘Bad Penny’, ‘Shadow Play’, and ‘I Fall Apart’.
