A night of comedic rí-rá agus ruaille buaille is on the cards at Gáire as Gaeilge, Galway Comedy Festival's annual stand-up show entirely in Irish.

Hosted by Hector Ó hEochagáin and taking place in The Crane Bar, Sea Road, on Thursday October 26, it features Al Porter, who has just been added to a bill, along with Aideen McQueen and Galway’s Eddie Mullarkey.

Hector - one of the three funniest men to ever come out of Navan (the other two being Tommy Tiernan and Dylan Moran ) - will be Fear an Tí for the show.

While Hector is well-known for his broadcasting work on RTÉ 2FM and his acclaimed travel documentaries for TG4, he has a real flair for comedy. Hector has hosted numerous stand-up shows over the years and is a co-host of the hugely popular Tommy, Hector & Laurita Podcast.

Al Porter has enjoyed a major comeback this year, and this show is a rare chance to hear his saucy, feel-good comedy in our native tongue.

Aideen McQueen has performed at The Vodafone Comedy Festival, Electric Picnic, the Prague Comedy Festival, and the Edinburgh Fringe. Independent.ie hailed her as “a natural storyteller and fantastic comic”.

Eddie Mullarkey’s comedy has been praised for its “compassionate wit” by Mumble while The Student described him as having the “skill of an old pro”. He hosted two seasons of the Craic Den Comedy Club on Virgin Media Television, and in 2021 had a sold-out run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Doors 7.30pm. Show 8pm. Tickets from www.galwaycomedyfestival.ie
