Maree Basketball looking to maintain winning form

Maree will be hoping for three wins on the bounce when they face EJ’s Sligo All-Stars in the Men’s Superleague at the Kingfisher Sports Centre, University of Galway this Saturday at 6pm.

It comes after two victories over Kerry opposition in successive weeks, the latest being in the Kingdom on Saturday, when they travelled to Killorglin and recorded a 74-69 victory over the hosts.

At the end of an entertaining tussle, Charlie Crowley’s charges held out for the win, made even more impressive after travelling with a depleted squad of eight players. As they had done in the previous win over Tralee Warriors, Maree led for the majority of the game, and they never trailed throughout the contest.

Killorglin drew level at 23-all, three minutes into the second quarter, but the sides were not tied for long. Once Terence Lewis fired them back ahead with a two-pointer a minute later, Maree stayed in front until the final quarter.

The hosts did draw level again and it was 65-all with 4:35 remaining in the tie, but despite strong pressure, Maree defended well to maintain their winning form.

Lewis led the scoring charge with 20 points, closely followed by Kyle Carey (18 ), with Zvonimir Cutuk (11 ), Ken-Jah Bosley (10 ), Eoin Rockall (9 ) and Tom Dumont (6 ) also on target.

It sets things up nicely for a home tie with EJ’s Sligo All-Stars this Saturday. Tickets are available from Maree Mens Superleague Basketball Social Media Channels.
