With a soulful blend of folk, pop and indie, Galway artist Seba Safe creates music with candid honesty.
Inspired by the likes of Josh Ritter, Andy Hull, Joni Mitchell, Big Thief and Jose Gonzalez, he brings his latest work to Monroe’s on Saturday, October 7.
Having signed to renowned indie label, Nettwerk, the talented singer-songwriter is building upon this success with the release of his latest EP, ‘Rainy’.
Seba Safe is the pseudonym for Portumna’s Michael D’Alton. His work flows from driving rhythmic beats to ethereal dreamlike songs as he portrays themes of personal relationships, love and loss.
His six-track EP was recorded in producer Duncan Mills’ studio in London Fields last summer, a place where artists such as Florence and The Machine and Jamie Callum have seen their work come to life. He returns to Galway after two sold-out Dublin shows.
Seba Safe’s music delves into the impact of immigration, and the new album is a reflection of D’Alton’s honest experience, exploring mental health, growth and the change that comes when friendships fall apart.
For the singer-songwriter, writing in this way is therapeutic. Yet, he aspires to touch upon universal themes that will connect with his audience through this nostalgic time-capsule style.
On the cusp of a British tour, and having recently played in Hungary, Prague and Germany, this is a unique chance to catch Seba Safe on home soil at the intimate backstage venue at the award winning Monroe’s Live on Dominick Street.
Tickets €13 from www.monroes.ie for gig on Saturday, October 7, at 8pm.
