After spending all of last year celebrating 10 years of leading education in the east side of Galway city, Merlin College will again welcome parents and sixth class students to its open night this Monday, October 2 at 7pm, to begin another decade of growth and educational excellence.

The culmination of the school's hard work and dedication was especially evident last year when the school reached the final of the All-Ireland Senior Boys Basketball in Dublin, and won the ‘A’ League Connaught Soccer Championship, while also reaching the All-Ireland semi-final. They also became national champions in athletics, winning the National Diversity Games.

The sports mad school was also very well represented in other sporting disciplines such as rugby, volleyball, Gaelic games and badminton to name a few. Never shy to try something new, the school also plans to begin coaching hockey this academic year.

Merlin College prides itself on its diversity, and that is evident not only to the school's pastoral approach to education but also through all the other activities it has to offer such as a Marvel, Dungeons & Dragons and Minecraft club. The art club has also become well established with an exhibition held by the students every year. The debating societies in both English and Irish have also been very successful along with participating and being successful in BT Young Scientists and Gaelbreathach via the Club Cainte; a club that promotes all things Irish.
