A NIGHT of music from highly promising Irish indie acts will take place in the Róisín Dubh on June 25 with Citizen, The Heritage Centre, Saving J, and Voodoo Fire in Haiti.
Dublin band Heritage Centre are nothing if not critically acclaimed - and they’ve only just started! The band released their debut EP The City, The Tree and The Fox in February and a second EP is due in October.
The band have drawn high praise for their melodic skills. Hotpress called them “the bastard sons of Weezer and Blur”, The-Fly.co.uk said “if you have any interest in professionally executed indie-rock then go see this band”, while the News Of The World said Heritage Centre have “an ability - a bit like The Shins - to write an upbeat but very cool pop tune”. Ben Clarke (drums ), David Sayers (guitar/vocals ) - are, according to Hotpress a “no nonsense rock three piece with strong harmonies and catchy choruses”.
The band released the EP You Don’t Know My Name in 2008. They are currently gigging new material and working with
producer Keith Farrell (Mundy, Pugwash, Halite ) for their next release, due within the next two months. Their debut album is set for release in September. According to Voodoo Fire in Haiti’s Myspace page, not much is known about them “and they want to keep it that way”. So you’ll just have to go and check them out.
