Continuing the centenary events to mark W.B. Yeats winning the Nobel Prize for Literature, the Yeats Thoor Ballylee Society is hosting the first of several performances of the new play, “Nobel Words”.
Written by Peggy Monahan and performed by the Wild Swan Theatre Company, the one-act play brings the audience into the world of W.B. Yeats during that momentous week in November 1923 when he learned of his Nobel Prize award.
As Yeats tells the story of the founding of the Abbey Theatre, he invokes the memories of those who helped him along the way, in particular, Augusta Lady Gregory and John Millington Synge.
“Nobel Words” will be performed at Thoor Ballylee, Gort on Thursday, September 21 at 8pm;The Town Hall Theatre Gort on Friday, September 29 and Saturday, September 30 at 8pm;The Yeats Building, Sligo on Saturday, October 7, at 1pm.Advance booking is strongly recommended and tickets can be reserved by ringing 087 6360895.
