Avenir All Island Cup winners Galway United will host top side DLR Waves in a Women’s National League game at Eamonn Deacy Park early next month — and you and your family and friends can be there to see it free of charge.

In association with Galway United, the Galway Advertiser is giving away 1,000 free tickets to the club’s next home fixture at 7.35pm on Sept 9, in which they will be hoping to continue their fine run of form.

Last weekend, they beat Cork City 3-0, and go into this weekend’s game against Athlone with high hopes of a strong end to an already successful season.

The club would love to have you along to cheer on United and help in the creation of new role models.

It has been an exciting season for Phil Trill’s side — in July, they won the first All-Island Avenir Cup beating Cliftonville 1-0 in the final in Sligo.

Last week the club announced the signing of experienced former International Julie Anne Russell — a former Republic of Ireland player of the year winner.

This is Galway United’s first season in the Women’s National League and their performances have exceeded expectations. The club have brought the Avenir Cup around to schools and clubs in the city and county to highlight the historic victory in the first ever all-island competition held between clubs in the Women’s National League and the Irish League.

United’s academy players are also excelling in their respective competitions and several of the club’s players have been called into underage Republic of Ireland squads this summer.

To avail of the offer of free tickets to the next home game v DLR Waves on Saturday September 9, just snap the QR code with your smartphone and you will be brought to the club’s ticket page where you can request the number of tickets you would like.
