Athenry author shortlisted for fantasy award

A book by Athenry-based author David Green has been shortlisted for the Best Fantasy Novel at the upcoming British Fantasy Awards.

Green, known for his Empire of Ruin and Hell in Haven series of novels, has been named among six finalists for the prestigious award.

Path of War, the second novel in Green’s Empire of Ruin series, is one of the books shortlisted for the Robert Holdstock Award for Best Fantasy Novel.

“The shortlist includes some heavy hitters from worldwide publishing houses such as Tor Uk, Orbit, and Del Rey, and it is quite an achievement for a relative newcomer like myself to find a spot on the list,” he said.

The shortlist is decided by popular vote by the readership of the British Fantasy Society, and the award is then decided by a jury made up of authors, readers, editors, agents and others in the industry.

The winners will be announced at the British Fantasy Society’s annual conference, FantasyCon, next month.
