Galway's very own Kieran Hardiman, former principal dancer with the iconic Riverdance, is bringing his new show, Celtic Fuse, to Monroe's Tavern on Dominick Street every Thursday night throughout August.
Celtic Fuse is a homecoming filled with promise, celebrating our rich cultural heritage while embracing modernity and artistic evolution. This exciting residency will allow locals and visitors alike to experience the magic of Irish dance and witness Kieran's creativity first hand.
After a remarkable 12-year journey with Riverdance, the Rahoon native has returned to his roots with a creative vision that blends traditional Irish dancing with contemporary influences. This new dance production showcases the talent and determination that has taken Kieran across 40 countries worldwide.
After finishing his illustrious career with Riverdance in 2020, Kieran felt compelled to create something unique to bring back to Galway. Having already choreographed shows and conducted workshops in America, he saw an opportunity to share his vision through the establishment of Celtic Fuse.
Collaborating with the talented Kelly McDonald, who has worked on the globally acclaimed Lord of the Dance, Kieran recognised the potential of Monroe’s Tavern to serve as the hub for his original choreography. So much so, he has devised the Celtic Fuse routine around the venue, ensuring the vibrant atmosphere provides the ideal backdrop for the dancers to come to life.
“Dancing is in my blood and I always aspired to create a show to bring back home,” says Kieran.
“I have been touring since I was 17 and have performed in front of thousands as a lead dancer for Riverdance.
“My final show took place at the 3 Arena, 25 years after Michael Flatley first debuted at the same venue, which was then known as The Point. Irish dancing has evolved so much and I wanted to incorporate everything I have learned into Celtic Fuse.”
Drawing inspiration from various dance styles encountered during his tours, such as hip hop, tap dance and flamenco, Kieran weaves these influences into the troupe’s routines in a true culmination of Irish and international culture. His innovative approach infuses traditional Irish dance with global elements, giving it a fresh, vibrant look.
Music also plays a central role in Celtic Fuse, as Kieran and his talented dancers perform to a diverse selection of songs. Not only do they dance to the beat of traditional Irish music, the show takes a bold step by incorporating today's chart-toppers, creating an eclectic mix.
From the heartfelt melodies of Ed Sheeran to the foot-stomping beats of Mumford and Sons, the audience will be treated to an unforgettable and unique experience. Throughout the month of August, every Thursday evening from 8pm, Celtic Fuse will grace the stage at Monroe's Tavern.
The show's electrifying energy, choreography, and innovative blend of traditional and modern elements promise to captivate audiences.
Other resident acts at the popular venue include the musical stylings of Luna, Horse Kick, the Tav Jam Band, the Good Life, Feedback and Double Booked, alongside Irish folk stalwart Don Stiffe every Wednesday, the thrill of the West Sessions every Friday afternoon and the music of a bygone era with the Galway Bay Jazz band every Sunday lunchtime.
