The sun shone brightly for the 139th Galway Regatta which took place recently with the largest entry for several years.
Seventeen clubs delivered 11 hours of racing from 8am to 7pm in the grounds of University of Galway at Dangan.
Clubs from the western seaboard, including newly-formed LoughRos Point Rowing Club in Donegal, the travelling clubs from Limerick, and Blackrock RC in Dublin in the east took part in the event which for the first time in years boasted senior racing, with top crews from University of Galway competing against other city clubs in the mens and women's events.
The local clubs took their fair share of the spoils, with some competing for the first time at this home regatta.
The blue riband of Galway regatta, the Mens J18 8+ event, saw two crews from St Joseph's and one from Colaiste Iognaid line up for the coveted Anderson Trophy.
The highly-fancied St Josephs A crew took an early lead from their Jes neighbours, with the second Bish crew in third, and the positions did not change as they crossed the finish line.
The club now looks forward to 2024 which will mark its 140th regatta.
Next up for Galway clubs is the Athlone Regatta on June 17, with Cork Regatta June 24.
