Acclaimed Folk Artist Dani Larkin to Perform New Release at Monroe’s Live.

Fresh from her first international tour in Australia, where she shares the stage with artists of such calibre as Mary Coughlan, Billy Bragg, John Smith and Grace Petrie, emerging star Dani Larkin is set to bring her contemplative folk style to Monroe’s Live on Thursday, May 4 at 8pm.

It’s a unique opportunity to catch the talented artist, who achieved international acclaim with her debut album ‘Notes for a Maiden Warrior’ and supported Snow Patrol at the London Palladium, in the intimate setting of the award winning Dominick Street venue.

With three debut US shows at the Irish Arts Centre in New York in 2023, Dani Larkin is forging ahead, delicately weaving tales of Celtic folklore with a contemporary voice. As her international audience grows, so too does her ability to craft haunting melodies with a keen eye for storytelling.

It’s been a busy time for the celebrated singer-songwriter who has enthralled across the globe.

Since 2021, she has opened for well-known acts such as Wallis Bird, Declan O’Rourke, the Hothouse Flowers and Ye Vagabonds.

Now, she will bring her highly anticipated new work to the Monroe’s Live stage as she releases her latest single ‘Come Home To Me’ on April 27 from her upcoming EP ‘Walking With Natives’.

“After a year of international shows, there’s nothing quite like the west coast for a bit of magic!” she says.

“I am delighted to be back in Monroe’s after performing at the Galway Folk Festival last year and at Oranmore Castle with Ye Vagabonds.”

Renowned for her unforgettable live performances, Larkin displays a raw intensity through her powerful vocals, accompanied by the instrumental strum of guitar and banjo.

Inspired by the human spirit and the natural world, she balances the thread between our shared life experiences and the traditional folk genre.

“Come Home To Me is a quiet contemplation on the nature of forgiveness,” she explains.

“Walking With Natives is an ode to the land and the sea, the flora and fauna, the mountains and the hills, the cliffs and towering trees. It serves as a catalyst for change, change that exists in conversations, the air that we breathe and the living elements that have gone before us and will remain long after we are gone.”

Described as mesmeric, with the promise to be one of the most exciting folk albums of the year, Dani Larkin is on an upward path. Not only has she collaborated with the Ulster Orchestra and the RTÉ Concert Orchestra, she is recognised as a rising star on the Irish folk and alternative scene.

Don’t miss your chance to catch Dani Larkin at Monroe’s Live on Thursday, May 4 at 8pm with support from Molly O'Mahony. Tickets cost €15 and are available from www.monroes.ie
