Galway Technology Centre highlights importance of wellness by locating hub in its building

The issue of wellness is becoming increasingly important for businesses of all shapes and sizes. Corporate wellbeing programmes are now an integral part of the business agenda. It involves promoting staff wellbeing at work and empowering staff with the knowledge tools to be proactive in boosting and protecting their own wellbeing.

With this in mind, the Galway Technology Centre (GTC ) is looking to put wellness at the core of its Centre. and as part of their ongoing offering to members, have opened a new Wellness Hub located in the building.

They have also announced that they will be working with wellbeing consultant, Sinéad Bradbury, MSc SENr.

Sinéad has vast expertise and experience in the wellness and health space, working with Galway GAA amongst others. Sinead’s know-how will now be available to GTC members.

As part of their wellness offering, Sinead will be providing GTC members with one on one consultations, monthly Lunch and Learn talks focusing on dietary and lifestyle education topics, In house health initiatives including various health screenings, enhancing the work environment from a health perspective, food offerings, yoga sessions and regular health and wellness related blogs.

“It is so exciting to be part of a dynamic team with big plans. We have this very special space set up in The Wellness Hub now and I am really looking forward to hosting educational sessions, coordinating yoga, fitness and mindfulness classes,” said Ms Bradbury.

“We have been busy since late last year and it is all coming together now. A space to disconnect and re-set,” he added.

At Galway Technology Company they are striving to support their members to get healthier, get moving and to place close attention to their physical and mental health whether that is working remotely or on-site in Mervue Business Park.

The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD ) said that fostering employee wellbeing is good for people and the organisation. Promoting wellbeing can help prevent stress and create positive working environments where individuals and organisations can thrive. Good health and wellbeing can be a core enabler of employee engagement and organisational performance.”

The World Health organisation recommends 150 minutes of moderate activity per week. Just 38% of women and 54% of men in this country are reaching that.
