RHS Home Care continuing to provide social care services within home setting

Twenty seven years ago a small group of volunteers united to see if they could provide social care services to local people who needed support at home.

It was not envisaged at the time the project would grow to employ 350 people across Roscommon, Mayo and Galway.

Initially, the Cooperative trained 30 people through funding received in the ‘NOW’ New Opportunities for Women programme. To date, the Cooperative cares for 720 clients across three counties and this is done on a not for profit basis, the only one of its kind in Ireland.

RHS Homecare prides itself on quality professional home care services and we ensure all our carers in the community are well paid for their services provided as well as paid mileage to all care calls to their clients.

The priority of RHS Home Care is the client, since the beginning, it has always been about quality care and not financial gain and that is what sets RHS Home Care apart from commercial home care companies.

RHS Home Care Cooperative is a Nurse Led Home Care provider. The Cooperative is managed by Patrick Towey General Manager, Shirley Larkin Care Manager, and Veronica Barrett, Director of Services.

All RHS Home Care carers are trained to a very high standard and Garda vetted, supported on the ground by a team of area supervisors.

A large number of clients are referred by the HSE, RHS Home Care also offering care services to private clients. The aim of RHS Home Care is to give people the option of remaining within their own homes and communities.

RHS Home Care has delivered a quality service to all clients and will continue to do so, even though the home care market is now oversubscribed with commercial home care providers. RHS Home Care Cooperative has thrived and maintained our not for profit identity.

The client has always been front and centre in the deliverance of care and this will continue with a team of highly trained people in all three counties.
