The Stunning's Steve & Joe are the creative force behind The Walls - a band well known for hits like To the Bright & Shining Sun, Bone Deep, Bird in a Cage and Drowning Pool.
Their fourth and final album, Stray Sparks, is a collection of rarities, gems and previously unreleased tracks to complete the band’s catalogue. A must-have for fans and collectors, the album includes songs that span the years from the band's first recordings in 1997 to the 'Stop the Lights' sessions in 2010.
Lucky Charm is their brand new single (the song has never been released before ). It's a spacious acoustic-based tune with lush production and harmonies which showcases a gentler side to the band. It bookends a catalogue of four acclaimed albums that have all stood the test of time and it's the map that traces the journey and development of the band's sound, through a diversity in styles and experimentation all weaved together with their unique knack for melody. Great guitar riffs, melodic hooks and lyrics are the order of the day within an experimental and quirky soundscape as the band enjoyed the freedom to experiment in their own studio.
Also included is The Walls first single 'The Night I called it a Day' which has never featured to date on any of the band’s albums. Influences from Captain Beefheart to Beck and The Beatles can be heard on the tracks 'Escape from the Light’, 'Black Light' and 'Crystal Ball', while there are some moody alternative rock vibes with the 2022 single 'Chrome Heart’ and an early band recording, ‘Nobody’. Also, make sure to check out the instrumental track 'The Big Freeze’. This is one of the stand out tracks on the record and features synth whizz Paul G. Smyth (ex-The Jimmy Cake ).
Preview the songs and pre-order the album from the band's website or from Bandcamp. They are doing a limited run of 500 CDs to complete their 4-album catalogue. There will be no more available after this short run. Albums will be shipped from Monday, March 20.
