Here are some tips to help you on your job hunt adventure:
Know thyself. Before you start your company treasure hunt, take some time to think about what you’re looking for in a job. What are your interests and what do you value in a job? What skills and attributes do you bring to the table? Once you have a clear idea of what you’re looking for, you’ll be better equipped to identify companies that are a good fit.

Utilise your contacts. Past employers already know your worth and they can be a great source of recommendations and leads. And, in my experience, people are generally keen to help an old acquaintance, as long as you don’t become a total nuisance.

And once you’re in the circle, keep your eyes and ears open – and don’t alienate people – and something might open up. Word of mouth, remember, is an under-rated recruitment too.
Get connected. Recruiters are a valuable source of information and contacts. It is well worth your time to build relationships with them. They need people like you too so be friendly, courteous, and keen in all exchanges. You’d never know when the penny might drop.
Get involved. By joining related organisations and professional/trade associations, you’ll be able to meet relevant people and create a profile that demonstrates your commitment to your industry. We’re not saying you should let it take over your life, but time invested in networking with people from your sector is rarely wasted.
Think outside the box. Consider non-profit organisations (NPOs ), especially if you’re in the private sector. NPOs value talent from any industry, so you may be able to find a great opportunity even if you’re not already in the non-profit sector.
Assemble your team. Connect with a few individuals in your industry who you respect and who can guide you through your career. Invite honest feedback. If you resist it, people will stop giving it and you won’t even realise the guidance you’re missing out on.
