Turn your stress into energy with qigong and taichi

When we are stressed, our bodies, our minds, and our emotions suffer. We become fatigued, irritated, sick, and diseased. Practising the ancient Chinese movements of qigong and taichi calms our minds. When our minds are calm, our bodies and minds move into a relaxation mode and out of a survival or stressed mode.

Once we are in a relaxed mode, we can heal and repair our bodies and transform stress into free flowing vitality. When we take control of our health by practising qigong or taichi, we have more energy, we are calmer and able to deal with problems more easily and swiftly, and we are grounded.

Qigong and taichi both work on the energy system inside our bodies that flows through channels called meridans. This energy system powers everything in our bodies, from beating our heart to our mind thinking thoughts and our heart feeling emotions. When we are stressed, our energy gets stagnant, causing discomfort and illness. When we practise qigong and taichi we become our own acupuncturists and reblalance our energy and re-energise our bodies.

Eileen Brady teaches both qigong and taichi beginner classes outdoors on Monday mornings in the Circle of Life Garden, Salthill. She teaches indoor classes on Tuesday afternoons in the Youth Hub in Bearna, and on Thursday evenings in Salthill/Knocknacarra GAA Club, Dr Mannix Road.
