Cork Band The Drive. Steer a New Path for Irish Indie Music at Monroe’s Live

With a nod to Britpop, Cork band The Drive. are part of the next generation of indie-rock groups currently making waves on the Irish music scene. Born out of a mutual love for The Smiths and The Stone Roses, the success of their debut single ‘Cigarettes and Lemonade’ gained such traction, they sold out their first tour. Recognised as one of Ireland’s most promising young bands, this exciting ensemble will perform at Monroe’s Live on Friday, November 25.

Delivering a hearty slice of Mancunian influence, the coming together of Eoin Murphy (guitar/vocals ), Alannah Hynes (bass/vocals ), and Alex Redmond Galligan (drums ) in 2018 created a stir on the musical landscape. An enforced hiatus from touring, thanks to the pandemic, came with a new focus and renewed energy. The band took the time to write, capturing the voice of their peers, as they grapple with the challenges of youth in uncertain times.

Such is their appeal, that they are now playing to bigger audiences, thanks to their work ethic and sound of the times. Inspiration from indie legends The Smiths and The Stone Roses is undeniable with their strong focus on guitar, bass, and drums.

The dynamic fresh beats are a call to the work of these musical giants, rooted firmly in the fusion of alt-rock and indie vibes. Having released their latest single, SNFC, earlier this year, The Drive. are on course to steer the indie genre in the right direction for the modern age. Don’t miss your chance to catch The Drive. at Monroe’s Live on Friday, November 25. With support from The Rosecaps.
